Let’s take a risk into the inventive and edgy world of Maison De LaCour. Julius “JuJu” LaCour has created a sexy mysterious atmosphere in his fashion, one that is perfectly daring. His precise attention to detail helps him design fantastic pieces that continue to push the endless possibilities of fashion.
LaCour realized at the age of 12 that fashion was the world he wanted to be in. He grew up in New Orleans, where money was tight for his family. He spent his days glued to fashion magazines where he studied the newest styles of Dolce and Gabbana and Giorgio Armani. “The style back
then was the distressed look with distressed jeans and I wanted the same thing but I couldn’t afford it, so I learned how to do it on my own.”
LaCour played around with old jeans and shirts to recreate the styles that mesmerized him. He admits that at first he didn’t know anything about sewing, so his first few creations were held together by fabric glue. He later taught himself how to use a sewing machine, and furthered his education at the Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago. His hunger for learning about the intricacies of fashion is what keeps him motivated every day. “I love to figure out new ways to create minimum bulk in the fabrics so that it is form fitting and accentuates the body in the best way.”
Two years ago, LaCour created Maison De LaCour to showcase his fashion lifestyle for both men and women. He wants to remind people that fashion is not just for the women of the world; men too can
strive to be fashionable and bold. “I just think men’s fashion in America is boring.” He seeks to rejuvenate menswear by creating styles that not only he would love to wear, but also to create statement-striking styles for men. But his attention does not run shy from his magnificent women’s designs. Maison De LaCour showcases truly courageous styles. LaCour ultimately created this “maison” for “the person who dares to live outside of the box and loves to be comfortable in what he or she is wearing. It’s for that unique and fearless person.”
From fabric glue to intricately sewn masterpieces, JuJu LaCour brings his edgy flare to the world of fashion.
