Hey guys!

So, for my last post I thought I would indulge myself and tell you all about my ink (and inspiration for this blog).

I have four tattoos, two of which hold significant meaning for me: the one of Stonehenge and the only words I’ll ever permanently put on my body.

My first ever tattoo was of Stonehenge, the original sketch was drawn by my little sister, based off of a photo I took of the Henge when I visited it. After spending about a year considering this as my first tattoo, I was so stoked to finally take the plunge about a year ago. As time goes on I love it more and more, I feel rather academic sporting it around campus. I’m also a bit of a nerd, and the whole mystery around how the Henge came to be (aliens!?) really intrigues me and reminds me that there is so much we don’t know about our world.

The my second tattoo is of the phrase “Delicious Ambiguity.” This one is my little note to self (hence, the light color). I can be very set in my ways and this phrase, quoted from Gilda Radner’s autobiography It’s Always Something, reminds me that “life is about taking the moment and making the best of if, without knowing what’s going to happen next.” Since I’ve gotten this piece I find it easier, on a bad day or whatever, to realize that not everything is in my control and that’s okay.

I find it incredibly difficult to properly explain the meaning of my ink to anyone who asks, so I commend everyone who I’ve interviewed and their stories. I wish I felt like I have fully explained the meaning of these pieces of art here, but there is just too much meaning to them.

So, as I wind down for the semester…I want you all to find things in your life that hold enough meaning that you would have them soaked into your skin in a way as permanent as a tattoo.
