-Welcome Letter-

Dear Reader,

The LUChameleon Magazine takes its namesake from the little reptile animal known as the chameleon.

The chameleon is an animal known for its ability to change the color of its skin to adapt to its surroundings.

Chameleons and human beings are actually a lot alike, in that regard. Human beings are also multifaceted creatures who can change their “colors” to adapt to who they’re with or where they are.

We, as humans, all have our inner chameleons. We have so many different colors to show the world, yet we choose to fit in, to follow the status quo.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if we, as humans, showcased our changing colors and dared to be different?

Why blend in? Why choose to be like everyone else? Why not stand out and welcome your beauty and dignity?

Here at the Chameleon, we redefine what the word different means. We believe in embracing the qualities that allow us to shine and stand out.

We believe in building tolerance and accepting each other’s unique characteristics.

That’s why one of our main goals is to inform and educate the entire Loyola community in acknowledging diversity.

Loyola University Chicago is certainly a diverse and tolerant campus indeed. The LUChameleon Magazine is dedicated to everyone on the Loyola campus. We are all different and we all have a unique perspective to offer the world.

We thank you, the Loyola community, for the opportunity to start this campus publication and for the opportunity to participate in this gutsy student activity.

On behalf of my entire LUChameleon crew, I sincerely hope that you take the opportunity to read it.

In fact, I do more than hope. I dare you to read it.

Go ahead. Recognize your inner beauty.

Read it, talk about it, criticize it, or better yet, join it.

Sincerely,

Kim De Guzman
Editor-in-Chief
