Soul reflection
By Stevenson Valentor Chameleon Staff Writer I have dug before, that soul is silence ~ or more so that soul is a silent, immutable, but inexplicably tasteable, force. Soul is that lightning rod I have adopted and tapped into after hours of devouring Alex Grey’s artwork. My image of soul feels very electric indeed. But recently, I have been conceiving no soul. Sometime over the last few weeks I had felt negatively ~ and in this downer phase I know I’d “lost” my soul; I couldn’t find it. I couldn’t find that love, the ever-illuminating energy always more »
NOT-SO-WHISPER WEDNESDAYS: Bad Sex
Good morrow to you all. This week I want to write briefly about a phenomenon that is sweeping the nation. It’s two words that are only uttered in the comfort of your best friend’s apartment. Bad Sex. Bad sex is something that at one point or another we may be subjected to. Every time can’t be a winner, right? Unless we all wait until marriage, but even then there will be times when you’re not completely feeling it with your spouse. I can’t really remember very many bad moments in my love makin’ career. But, there is one more »
TATTOO TUESDAY: The History of Tattoos
By Audrey Kelly Chameleon Tattoo Blogger So for this week’s post I decided to do some further investigating on the history of tattoos, as those fancy tattoo guns haven’t been around forever. In light of that, I also thought it’d be cool to feature some homemade ink, and get a glimpse of what it would have been like to get a tattoo back in the day (or, like, a few thousand years ago). The art of tattooing can be traced all the way back to the ice age. The Ancient Egyptians were known to have ink as more »
REFLECTIONS: No One Wants to Be Shoved Out of the Closet
By Jay S. Chameleon Sex Blogger In one of my classes, a student passed around a survey asking everyone “How many people have you romantically kissed in your life?” Everyone’s answers were being collected for a psychology class. I was one of the last to receive the sheet, so I was able to see everyone else’s answers. Many people had written down numbers in the 20’s and 30’s. I am not sure if I’m just inexperienced or understood the meaning of “romantically” kissed a little better, but I was happy to put down my number, “1.” I have more »
SUNDAY TRAVELER: Relax and Enjoy the Journey
By Megan Niedringhaus Chameleon Religion Blogger Saturday night. 2:00 AM. No, I didn’t just get home from the bar, or some crazy party filled with beer pong and sloppy pictures. I’ve been doing homework. Or, more precisely, figuring out my future months in advance. The Spring 2013 Student Teaching Application stares me down from my computer screen, that little black line flashing where my personal statement waits to be created. To those of you who aren’t in the School of Education, student teaching your final semester is essentially a fifteen-week job interview. If you do well and things more »
FRIDAY FASHION SPECTRUM: Pump Up the Volume, It’s Skinny’s Funeral
By Adilla Menayang Chameleon Fashion Blogger Bigger men, rejoice! This season marks the end of skinny. Since the beginning of the decade, fashion observers have noticed a tendency that many menswear designers are doing: they are pumping up the volume and widening their horizons. This fall’s silhouette includes broad shoulders, layers of puffy jackets, wider waists and looser fit pants. In Paris, Kris van Assche showcased a collection of loosely-fit military coats and draping cloaks paired with baggy harem pants for Dior Homme; an extreme evolution from the brand’s earlier collections since its start in 2001 under Hedi more »

FRIDAY FASHION SPECTRUM: High Waists are Back
By Hannah Lutz Chameleon Fashion Blogger Vogue’s hottest trends have been posted- high waists are back! Among the modern trends of prints and bright colors, waists must also be defined. We’ve just left the fashion stint of low waist bands, which are in my opinion, very unflattering. They let everything hang out and do nothing to define a woman’s most attractive curve, the waist. It’s the smallest and most flattering part of a woman’s body. High waists are underrated. The look has been transformed throughout the decades: a womanly waist band on a dainty dress in the more »
Living green at LUC
Video Produced and Words By Audrey Kelly Chameleon Staff Writer As the students interviewed state, maybe being green on a small scale isn’t so difficult. However, they do sympathize with everyone out there who feels frustrated at the prospect of changing their lifestyles in small ways and then not being able to see the results in a timely manner. As college students we feel even more powerless as we have to try to live as cheap and efficiently as possible. Sometimes personal budget cuts get in the way of buying organic or purchasing clothes made of more »
Heaven and hell make their way to LUMA
By Vicky Guerrero Chameleon Staff Writer LUMA has partnered with Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art for their new exhibit entitled HEAVEN+HELL. This unique partnership makes the exhibit split in to two parts, in each museum’s location. The hell portion of the exhibit is housed at Intuit, while the heaven portion is housed at LUMA. This new exhibit, simply put, an out of this world experience. HEAVEN+HELL is meant to feature outsider art depictions of the afterlife. Many are unfamiliar with the term “outsider art” which, defined by Intuit, is “works of artists who demonstrate more »
